UPPER MARKET GALLERY welcomes SMITH for a special solo show entitled, “Object Lessons,” featuring all new works by the artist. Smith is a San Francisco-based poet, painter, and essayist and has exhibited her paintings throughout the Bay Area, including solo shows at Adobe Books Backroom Gallery and Danielle SF. She is the author of four collections of poetry, Word Cave; Between First and Second Sleep; Displacement Geology; and The Profound M. Smith has also written a novel and frequently pens art reviews and catalog essays. Smith currently serves as the inaugural Curator in Residence at Arion Press and holds an MA from Tufts and a BA from Kenyon College, where she graduated summa cum laude with the highest honors in English.
